Judge Mary Katherine Rochford is seeking your vote for a seat on the
Illinois Appellate Court to fill the Honorable Leslie South vacancy.
Mary Katherine has over thirty years of legal experience. For close to
nineteen years, she has been a trial judge serving the people of Cook
County. She has been assigned to both civil and criminal courts. Currently
Judge Rochford is assigned to the Chancery Division. Before becoming a
Judge, Mary Katherine had almost eleven years of litigation experience,
primarily appellate litigation. Judge Rochford believes in judicial
independence and will not seek and will not accept campaign contributions
from any individuals, corporations, or political organizations. Her judicial
career has been marked with extensive service to the community and to the
court system. As an Appellate Court Justice, Mary Katherine will be
following the same principles of fairness and integrity which have guided
her career as a trial judge and will maintain judicial independence and
impartiality.
Mary Katherine is a life-long resident of Cook County, growing up on the
west and northwest sides of Chicago. Her parents came from County Mayo,
Ireland. She is a graduate of Trinity High School, the University of Notre
Dame, and the University of Notre Dame Law School. Mary Katherine and her
extended family, husband, sons, and father make their home in Cook County.
Judge Rochford is distinguished by the length and breadth of her judicial
experience, together with the extent of her appellate litigation as a
lawyer. She is notable for not accepting outside donations.
